Compassion Fatigue Empty Compassion Fatigue

What does compassion fatigue look like in your field of service? And what do you do to keep your spirits up when the world beats you down?

Compassion Fatigue Empty Re: Compassion Fatigue

Post  pmedicchris Mon Jun 04, 2012 12:46 pm

I had never heard the term compassion fatigue until last week when I was speaking with a friend who works in ministry. I'm a rookie cop so I'm just beginning to learn everything. I'm still trying to find balance. On one hand I can have compassion for everyone and everything they are going through. On the other I can put up a wall and not think about what the people I deal with are going through. I know I can completely harden my heart like the veteran officers I work with but I don't think that is God's desire. I know if I care too much I will burn out and be ineffective at my job. I'm not sure what it looks like to be a disciple of Jesus and a LEO.
